Leadership of Place > Member Development > Total Support for Members> Intermediate
The Intermediate Level is an integrated programme of seminars and workshops which has been designed specifically for councillors by councillors and learning development specialists.
This level covers a wide range of topics and builds on the Foundation Level. It can be used flexibly to allow councillors to develop specific skills or to complete the full programme. Incorporating a variety of learning techniques, it includes the opportunity to practise skills and to share experiences with other councillors. The Intermediate Level is delivered through linked seminars, activities and workshops. The seminar will provide information about the topic. The activity will be an opportunity for councillors to apply their new understanding to a real situation in their council or community. The workshop will be a chance to share this experience and to further develop new skills.
Making an Impact as a Councillor is the introductory programme for this level. There are eight further Intermediate level programmes each comprising a seminar, activity and workshop.
These are:
- Community Leadership
- Community Engagement
- Partnership Working
- Effective Casework
- Overview and Scrutiny
- Getting Results in the Council
- Effective Relationships between
Councillor and Officers
- Political Management
